Senator Godswil Akpabio you are undoubtedly a charismatic leader with a big heart, the people's leader, a capacity builder, a good man, many call you uncommon performer/transformer, some say you are the JAGABAN of Akwa Ibom State and so on. For me, you are all that people say you are.
Sir, when your tenure came to an end as the governor of Akwa Ibom state and you left for Abuja many billboards in Uyo carried the inscription "Godswil Akpabio, iya umiss". We knew we will never have you as the governor of Akwa Ibom state again. Many didn't understand what that meant but few years after it was clear to us that Akwa Ibom has really missed your uncommon leadership because we needed more of you. But we thank God for our amiable president, Mr Muhammedu Buhari who has brought you back to us.
Sir, your appointment as the Niger Delta Affairs minister is to me a dream come true and prayer answered. You are simply the best man for the job, a round peg in a round hole. We are proud of you and we are not disappointed in anyway because we know your pedigree, capacity and antecedents... You are such a leader Akwa Ibom and Niger Delta yearn for in times like this. You are the Nehemiah that has come to rebuild the Niger Delta and the Joshua that'll lead the Niger Delta region to the promise land.
The Niger Delta is a region long overdue for massive infrastructural and human developments. We are the wealth pot of the country. The engine room of Nigeria economy. We have the resources and the man power to turn the Niger Delta to the Dubai of Africa and with your visionary leadership, the Niger Delta will be UNCOMMONLY transformed.
Sir, we remember as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State 2007-2015, you approached development of the state with "anger" according to you and the "effect" of that anger is the magnificent world class Godswil Akpabio International Stadium, Ibom e-Library, first fly-overs in Akwa Ibom state, pipe jacking underground drainage, Le Meridien Ibom Hotel, Victor Attah International Airport, Ibom Anniversary Hospital, Cottage Hospitals, Dualization of Uyo-Nung Udoe, Uyo- Itu, Abak- Ikot Ekpene roads, New Governor's lodge, Four Point by Sheraton in Ikot Ekpene among others.
Sir, that your anger also turned a lot of boys to men in Akwa Ibom State, gave our children free education with subvention to our primary/secondary schools, free medical care to our children and the aged, "Akpabiomba" to our civil servants, bursary to our students etc
Sir, as the minister of a region long neglected and abandoned due to lack of transformational leadership, we pray thee in the name of development to be angry. May you be angry with poverty in the Niger Delta region, may you be angry with the deplorable condition of Ikot Ekpene - Aba road, Ikot Ekpene - Umuahia road and Calabar-Itu road. May your anger consume militancy, kidnapping, open defecation and environmental pollution in the Niger Delta. Sir, may you be angry with oil spoilage in the Niger Delta. May you be angry with the failed Ogoni clean - up project. Sir, may you be angry with abandoned NDDC projects.
Sir, I'm sure you know how anxious we are to see the "fire" of your anger because we know what you are capable of doing and we are glad you've started working already by recommending Mr Victor Antai as Akwa Ibom NDDC Commissioner and Mr Otobong Andem as Project Director. These gentlemen deserve the position they got. We believe that with you and Mr Victor Antai whom we know as a performer, Akwa Ibom state will never remain the same.
Sir, just as we wish you well, we encourage you to remain focus even as your critics will continue to criticize, and plot your failure. I'm sure that you know the best way to reply your critics is through your superlative and superior performance which you are known for. That's why we want you to be angry.
